| | Author Profile: Peter Matthiessen |  | Peter Matthiessen has authored over 20 works of fiction and non-fiction spanning 50 years,including At Play in the Fields of the Lord; Far Tortuga; and The Snow Leopard,which won the National Book Award in 1978. Twenty-five years into his writing career,Matthiessen began Zen practice and has since become an ordained Buddhist priest. Today,he lives with his wife in Sagaponack,New York,where he runs a small Zen center.
